Hi, I’m Laura Waetjen—also known as The Mahjong Mama.

I'm a southern girl who now lives in Pennsylvania.
I was introduced to Mahjong while visiting one of my best friends in Georgia, and I quickly fell in love not just with the game itself, but with the connection it creates around the table.

That connection became even more meaningful when I began playing with my husband and two teenage children. What started as a vacation activity quickly became one of the highlights of our time together.

It was that experience that inspired me to bring Mahjong home to Pennsylvania starting with a few informal lessons for friends and growing into a passion for building community around the table.

I went on to receive formal training with Mahjong Molly and am now also an Ambassador for The Mahjong Line. I now host lessons and private events for players of all levels. Whether you're brand new or looking to deepen your game, my goal is to make learning approachable, social, and fun.
