Ginna was born in New York City but raised in Dallas, so we consider her a Texan at heart. She attended the University of Virginia, graduating from the McIntire School of Commerce with a Bachelor of Science in management and marketing. She worked for Bank of America in campus recruiting in New York City, which is where she initially gained her event planning experience. After working in various roles at Merrill Lynch and J.P. Morgan, she decided to combine her love for mahjong and event planning to launch The Mahj Prep. When not playing mahjong or working at Brigade Events, she stays busy with her husband, three kids, and of course all of their favorites, black lab, Phil.

Where do you teach mahjong?

Mostly Dallas but will travel especially if beach and Paloma are involved

When, where and how did you learn mahjong?

From some really cool girls who started The Mahjong Line

Why do you love mahjong?

I don’t know what we did before we all played mahjong. Did we actually just eat lunch and sit there or just stand around at a cocktail party? I love the game. I love the competitiveness of it. I love the camaraderie of it and bringing friends together. I love the history and tradition of it. And I love that it's something my kids and I can play with my mom.

What is your favorite National Mah Jongg card line or tile?

My favorite tiles are the flowers. They make me smile every time I see one. They're so unique and beautiful and give you lots of different line options on the card.

What Mahjong Line tile set is your favorite to play on?

I love playing on them all for different reasons, but I seem to always gravitate towards my Palm Springs minimal line set. It’s crisp, preppy, bright, and happy. And The Mahjong Line describes the minimal gal as one who loves abnormally long walks on crisp days and the pulse of NYC. Is there anything better?

What would you sing on karaoke night?

Toss up between Don’t Stop Believin’ and Faith - I usually get on the stage more than once.

Stranded on a desert island and you only have one movie to watch...
