Jill Graham started Queen City Mahjong in 2021 after she and her friends taught themselves how to play by pouring over books and blogs. Because teachers were scarce, she knew she had to share her knowledge of the game! She and her 8 other instructors have taught to over 2,500 lesson seats since then. The Queen City Mahjong League began in 2024 in which teams compete each week for points in fall, spring and summer seasons. QCM offers private in-home lessons in Charlotte and also travels to teach. They offer a very popular 4-hour "Boot Camp" which is a deep-dive lesson for Mahjong beginners. Check out the QCM website to schedule private and group lessons and to contact. Why do you love the mahjong community?
I love the connections and community that have formed through Mahjong. Plus the game is mentally challenging while social at the same time.
What is your favorite mahjong memory?
Quickly organizing a Mahjong fundraiser for Western NC that produced so much support, donations and love from the nationwide Mahjong community

Morning coffee, comfy lounging clothes, time with friends walking, golfing or Mahj-ing.
What Mahjong Line set is your favorite to play on?
I change my fave set and mat with the seasons! Fall is the teal Botanical line and magenta mat. Spring is the white Classic line and lavender mat. And the list goes on...
